I’m ready to team up with you to break into the Spanish speaking market
Here I am, in the spotlight! You guessed it, I’m Leyre Alegre. I’m surrounded by languages all day long. I’m an English to Spanish translator and a Spanish lecturer at Michigan Technological University.
I mostly translate from English into Spanish, but French and Catalan sometimes manage to get in the way.
My areas of expertise are in the Pharmaceutical, Health Benefits and Human Resources areas
I also translate for the Needlearts Industry (Embroidery, Crochet, Knitting, Sewing, Quilting, Fabric and related products). Lately I have been focusing on and studying the livestock industry. Certified translations have been a constant in my career, whether for individuals, lawyers, or banks.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpretation, from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain; I continued my studies with a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language, from the Universitat de Barcelona in Spain.
I am a member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and Michigan Translators/Interpreters Network (MiTiN). Professional development is key in this changing industry, so I stay on top of it by attending conferences, and signing up for courses or webinars to deepen my understanding of specific topics.
But enough about me… what brought you here? Do you want to sell your products in the Spanish speaking market? Do you want to reach out to a Spanish speaking audience? Send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org so that I get to know more about you and your needs.
If you prefer, you can call me at 248-921-3956, or you can connect with me on LinkedIn.
Interested in more info about me? Here it is…
I’m originally from Barcelona, Spain (that’s why I also speak/work with Catalan). It’s a lovely Mediterranean city and I do miss it of course! Thankfully I get to travel back and forth quite often, so I can’t really complain.
I was fortunate to receive a French education during the elementary, middle & high school, in Barcelona. When I started my bachelors in Translation, I chose French and Russian and continued polishing my English. During my school years I lived in Rennes, France and Moscow, Russia. And I’ve been traveling as much as I have been able to afford!
In 2005 I flew all the way to Michigan. I started working as Spanish lecturer for the University of Michigan until 2013, when I relocated to Houghton, Michigan. I’ve been in the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula since then.
And for the real gossip… I love embroidery, cross-stitch, crochet and knitting (the easy stuff!). Check out my Instagram account for all my WIPs and PHDs! I also yearn for greenery during the long Michigan winters, so I’ve been growing as many succulents as my windowsills can fit.
